You want to preserve your home’s roof and maintain its longevity for as long as possible. One of the best ways to do this, and something we highly recommend doing at Integrity Homes & Construction Inc., is to conduct regular roofing inspections.

Our Tips for Doing Your Own Roofing Inspection

The most important thing to note is that we do not suggest getting out your ladder and climbing up on your roof. A simple visual inspection from the ground can give you enough information to determine if your roof is doing okay or if it is time to call in our professionals for help.

  • Walk around your roof and look for piles of leaves, algae, and moss. All of these things can trap moisture on your roof and create bigger problems over time.
  • When you do your roofing inspection, look for shingles that are curled, buckling, or missing in certain places. We suggest using a pair of binoculars to get a closer look at the shingles higher up on your roof.
  • If you can get up in your attic, climb up there and look for signs of roofing damage. If you notice that there is water damage in your attic, or you can see sunlight peeping in through the roof boards, you should probably call in a professional.

Although you should go out and inspect your roofing every few months, you should perform a roofing inspection every time a major storm blows through your area. And if you ever notice something is off or damaged, call us right away and we will send over one of our roofing professionals to perform a complete inspection.
